Woody is 3 weeks post op tomorrow and this is the first bit of tail movement without stimulation or pinching. Chimi went from walking to being completely paralysed from the waist down within hours. Our local vet referred us to a vet in Derby who could do the surgery Chimi needed but the quote was coming out at around 19k and that didn’t include everything. This meant making some incredibly hard decisions quickly because of the amount of pain he was in. We got in contact with Lynn from Dachshund Rescue UK and she advised us to get our vet to refer to Vita Referrals in Whetherby where the entire treatment would be 4.5k. This was a lifeline for Chim as it meant everything would be covered by his insurance and he would have the best chance at walking again. He has his big op yesterday and is recovering well but the next 6-8 weeks are going to be incredibly difficult and he only has a 50% of walking again.
