🌟Lo que desayuna mi cerdita vegana, en una semana🌟 Muy buenas, familia. Por aquí os dejo una parte de la alimentación semanal de la señora de la casa. Según la época del año variamos sus comidas, ahora que no hay árboles frutales en el jardín, ni el roble está dando bellotas, le damos de comer dos veces al día. La recomendación de nuestra veterinaria es que le demos mayormente fruta y verdura y comidas saludables sin grasas y sin azúcares añadidos. Por la mañana le damos siempre fruta y verdura, cruda y/o cocinada con sobras de peladuras de los caldos, pipas de la calabaza, etc… y por la tarde, le ofrecemos comidas algo más contundentes y calentitas para que regule mejor su temperatura por la noche y descanse mejor ahora que hace más frío. Como no me cabía todo en el vídeo os he dejado sus desayunos, pero si os apetece, prepararé otro vídeo con sus cenas. I love the quote "To be loved is to be changed" but I think in Chicco's case "to be seen" is more fitting. Back in August 2022 we were called to rescue a pig who had been abandoned and roaming for weeks by himself, we arrived to find him with tattered and torn ears, a slender frail build and uneasy pacing. All factors that any person would steer away and possibly be scared of him, but there was that glint in his eyes we knew he was harmless and just scared. We had seen him, not the rough ripped ears, but that inner need for compassion and connection, which is why it was no surprise he used that last little bit of faith to follow the trail of treats into the float and through the gates to sanctuary. Over the years he has received our unconditional acceptance and love (and a lot of treats and belly scratches) to become the biggest friendliest boy of his paddock. Chicco and all animals deserve to be deeply seen, past any rough appearances and frail bodies into the kindness they want to experience and the happiness that can shine from within! Yesterday, Wanda had a very scary vet appt., and we’re only posting about it now because we knew there was a good chance she wouldn’t be coming home. We are very relieved to announce that she is back at the sanctuary. 🥺 Since her rescue last October, our first turkey resident, Wanda, has been dealing with multiple major leg issues. She’s been one of our most medically intensive residents with daily wraps, meds, and frequent vet consults since her rescue. She has deep bumblefoot on both feet (one much worse than the other) and on the bad leg, the top of her leg has split open in several places, among other issues. While she went in yesterday morning for surgery, her vet did not actually feel she was a candidate for surgery because of all of the calcification and scar tissue present. We are running cultures and other tests to see if we can treat her slight infection with a new systemic antibiotic. We did x-rays, had a consult with Cornell vets, did fine-need aspirations, and more. The total just for yesterday was $800, and she will need new meds and a follow up. In reality, Wanda might not be with us for super long, but the thought of losing her yesterday was so painful. She is SO sassy, animated, and full of life. We would love for her to have an amazing summer - her first in sanctuary - surrounded by friends who adore her. She has been through so much and deserves this. This beautiful girl has had her world turned upside down…her owner passed away and there was no family that stepped up to care for her. Instead they called animal control and had her picked up. So she is devastated that her person is gone…she does not understand. She is now in a place with new people, sounds and smells…she is depressed. She is morbidly obese with severe arthritis…she is in pain. Without placement she only had a week to live as she was to be euthanized. Well..not on our watch!!!
