By softly drawing up at the pelvic floor and sensing the whole body you link the lower half of your mass to the upper half. This is what makes it harder to lift your body as demonstrated in the above video. How is this relevant to self defense? By the unification of your body mass you increase the amount of mass used in both striking and blocking allowing you to generate more force ie Force = Mass x Acceleration. If more of you mass is both connected internally and directed precisely to the target externally you will be able to simply put hit harder. This easy but little understood exercise (lifting of the pelvic floor) can instantly increase the force a person generates due to a simple understanding of the human body.
