I think this is even more disappointing than the other examples I’ve talked about because my para social relationship with Kesha tells me that she thinks about things critically, especially when it comes to art and the industry. So to see her make this kind of call is really weird. I have a lot to say, clearly. It’s just interesting to me that Mattel would be funneling so much energy and resources into a line like the 12 days of Christmas Barbie when they have a legacy line of holiday Barbies that have extended throughout decades and literally crossed into a new century. like OK production prices have gone up, that’s fine. Bratz has always been considered the edgier version of Barbie, whether or not MGA really wants it to be. For them to be buying into the same anti-artist big business BS that Mattel is right now is very telling… However, despite not making any statement about it I don’t think that there’s enough evidence in their recent posts to support the assertion that they continued using AI. I guess I’m just frustrated that Mattel is constantly putting their worst foot forward towards everyday consumers and collectors who aren’t drowning in cash.
