l'd never been more nervous about anything in my life... STORYTIME: When I found out that country music icon, Martina McBride, would be a judge on the show I was hosting, I wanted to do something to honor her. With several #1 songs and 14 Grammy noms, she's honored the world with her talent for years, but who serves the one who serves the world. On day one of our 14 day shoot for Second Chance Stage, I had fallen in love with her hit song, "Independence Day." I found myself listening to it on repeat while alone in my trailer - I had the volume low as to not embarrass myself. Days 10 thru 13 we had a break & that's when I decided I was going to surprise Martina, the judges, and the whole live audience, by singing and playing her song on stage. One small problem: I'd never taken piano lessons! So during the 3-day break, I went to the Guitar Center and sat on the pianos in their store for about 2 hours a day. (Sorry to the strangers who walked by) I taught myself how to play Independence Day, and on the finale, sweating through my suit with nervousness, I played to honor her legacy. The irony of it all, l've never felt more free than while singing Independence Day. You're a legend @Martina McBride
