After posting on social media, many of my followers brought it to my attention that the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History DOES have accessibility options for the blind listed on their website and it specifically directs you to check in with the information desk upon arrival to receive assistance. I think my experience there was an example of someone who was not properly trained or informed so hopefully others in the future don’t have this experience. It was a last minute decision to go as we had a few unexpected free hours available while in DC for work but in future, I plan to look online ahead of time to be fully informed myself and able to better advocate for myself. #Smithsonian #WashingtonDC #MuseumOfNaturalHistory

I was really excited to explore the @AmericanGirl store and see what their disability representation was like. I was pleasantly surprised to find mobility aids like wheelchairs and crutches for the dolls or medical supplies like a diabetes care kit BUT I think we need a white cane next!! It was time to take my old grown out hair and give it some new life! I just wanted a natural boost so I went for a slightly deeper brown with some soft, natural highlights.
