He hit everything! Basically crunched his own tractor up against the trailer, backed into the light pole and bent it, the guardrail, the concrete barrier. When are we going to say enough is enough and stop letting unqualified people drive 80,000 lb vehicles down the road!!! This is Total lack of skill and this driver should never be behind the wheel of a tractor trailer, PERIOD!!! We as an industry need to start bringing back skill and professionalism! I'm sick sitting here and watching my life's work turn into a joke. 4 generations of trucking and professionalism and what do we have? This. This should be unacceptable always. Truck stops used to be all about the truck driver and there was a time where many of them had their own CB radio either at the fuel desk or back at the diner. Drivers could be miles down the road and call in a food order to go, ask the fuel desk the price of fuel or if they had room in the shop. It was commonplace to have a CB radio just blaring away on old 1 9 behind the fuel desk. Sometimes the girls would get on and coax the drivers off the interstate for a cup of hot coffee or a piece of Apple pie. Here is the other side of truck ownership that gets forgotten, when everything goes wrong and things break down. I noticed extra pressure in the cooling system and today hydrolock. I'm not sure exactly what's wrong until I pull the head but I suspect a liner issue or head gasket issue. My ex used to always say she always felt safe with me when we were out on the road. When I asked why she said because no matter what happens you always say calm and you always get us home. I think that really says a lot right there. You have a choice when everything goes wrong you can either stay calm and take care of the issue or you can lose it and panic. Staying call is the best way to handle these issues, definitely is a good way to get the issue taken care of quickly.
