I’m convinced these are sold this way to get you to buy another once this one dies. I am a firm believer to buy plants where ever you can access them but if you’re looking for carnivorous plants ESPECIALLY Venus fly traps and you’re a beginner with them, save yourself the heartache and buy them from local nurseries or reputable carnivorous sellers online. Here some that I recommend: @Carnivero @predatoryplants @California Carnivores VFT are one of the coolest carnivorous plants and they are awesome to own but they do need more specialized care and you won’t find that care in thee boxes. #venusflytrap #venusflytrapcare

Just because the blooms have dried off doesn’t mean they’re dead. With continued care, that bulb can keep growing and blooming for many years to come. Things to remember, they do not like the cold (wait to take outside after the last frost day in your area) and they must have a dormancy period in a dry place for at least 6-8 weeks. #amarylis #plantcaretips

If you want to get into succulents, a jade plant is the way of go! I live in Indiana, where the winters are below freezing so I can’t keep her outside all year round unfortunately but I make it work! Soil mix: my typical succulent mix is a combo of half succulent/cactus potting soil and half bonsai jack gravel. 💡indoors: If it’s growing too long and leggy, that tells you it’s not getting enough light. She can sit right underneath a grow light or your brightest window (at least 750 foot candles if measuring with a light meter) for at least four to six hours of direct sunlight a day. Outdoors, she lives a space that gets direct sunlight for 2 hours a day but shade the rest of the time. It may also turn into a beautiful green/burgundy shade when sun stressed. If you found this helpful, consider following along for more plant care and plant projects. Leave any questions down below! #jadeplant #succulentcare #plantcare

More care tips here ⬇️ Aloes are those plants that will love the neglect! I live in Indiana, where the winters are below freezing so I can’t keep her outside all year round unfortunately but I make it work! Water 💦: I water when the leaves are a bit more moldable and the soil is bone dry. She can go long periods without water. Aloe can absolutely get sunburned and if they ever become stressed, they turn gray! They can turn back to green once they’re adjusted but something to be mindful of. Coming next: Supporting Monstera Thai on a trellis! 🍂Soil mix: 25% indoor potting soil- whatever is accessible to you! 25 % coco chips- it comes in a brick when you buy it. Then you saturate it and break it down 15 %orchid bark 15 % perlite 💦When to water: when the soil is almost completely dry (about 80 percent of the way). Light ☀️: Grow light: 12 hours a days or I keep mine a foot away from a south facing down that gets a couple hours of direct sunlight (about 1,000 foot candles if measuring with a light meter). Humidity: if your ambient humidity stays at 30-55 percent humidity that is more than fine. If you notice crisp on the ends, consider having it near a humidifier. Support: to encourage those fenestrated leaves, along with light, a support pole is important to strengthen the stems. I could add it now but I’ll waiting until it grows a little more. My favorite supports are bamboo stakes, wood stakes, or a trellis. If you found this helpful, consider following along for more plant care and plant projects. Replying to @Eli🪡 If you have a slight stem on a leaf cutting, it may be successful to grow but the chances of you taking an aloe leaf, plopping in soil to grow, will result in rot. Luckily, aloe propagation through division is not too scary and they do root pretty well! Water 💦: wait 2 weeks to water. If you have no roots on the cutting, dampen the soil mix once it’s time to water. Soil mix: my typical succulent mix is a combo of half succulent/cactus potting soil and half bonsai jack gravel. If you found this helpful, consider following along for more planty tips and leave any questions down below! #aloeveraplant #aloeplant #plantcare

Did you know Dandelions are considered a superfood!? You can eat all parts of the dandelion including the leaves, flowers, and roots but BE SURE and AVOID dandelions from areas sprayed with pesticides or weed killers. They contain Vitamin A, C, K, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Great for Digestive health, antioxidant properties, etc. They can be quite bitter though so incorporating them into salads or teas is a better way to eat them. Look at earth 🌍 just providing us with natures candy! #dandelions #plantfood

Replying to @bethboxRN1❤️ Jade plants are great for propagating and take to rooting in soil very easily. I’m using a combo of cactus/succulent soil and half bonsai jack gravel for my soil mix. She can sit right underneath a grow light or your brightest window (at least 750 foot candles if measuring with a light meter) for at least four to six hours of direct sunlight a day. When growing Outdoors, initially lived in mostly space that got direct sunlight for 2 hours a day. After adjusting the shade, it’s been living in direct sunlight for approximately 8 hours a day. Rescues can be quite a roller coaster. Plant ID: Silver Streak Pothos (Epipremnum amplissimum) Anytime I get a plant that is struggling, I let it settle in my home for a week and get to work. I check the roots, cut out any rot if I see it, and get her potted into her new space. I left her to adjust and just followed her lead and here she is now! If you have fungus gnats, this carnivorous will be perfect for you! I find mine at my local nursery or online. These are my favorite carnivorous shops: @Carnivero @predatoryplants @California Carnivores The pinguicula plant, aka ping, catches fungus gnats with its sticky leaves. They get caught on the leaves and it triggers the plants’ digestive enzymes. General care: Carnivorous plants need a nutrient free soil (I use carnivorous soil), any added nutrients will harm them. Distilled water, rain water, or reverse osmosis water is required for them because it is low in minerals so no tap water for this one. These all do not require a dormancy period like a Venus fly trap but will have smaller(succulent shaped) leaves during the cold season. They will need plenty of sunlight or an added growlight! Mine lives under a grow light. If you found this helpful, consider following along for more planty tips and leave any questions down below! #pings #pinguicula #carnivorousplant

When feeling a Venus fly trap, you want to provide live prey, such as flies, mealworms, spiders, crickets and slugs. The movement of the live bugs will trigger the tiny hairs on the traps which causes them to close. After years of feeding, you’d think I’d be better at this but it gives me the heebie jeebies and these flies are resilient. She’s now handling herself and doing a dang good job at it now. #venusflytrap #carnivorousplants #plantlife

A leaf can get stuck if the moisture levels become inconsistent. It’s very common with bird of paradise plants. That includes the moisture around it and the soil as well and in my case, both things happened. A simple and efficient way to help is by using a damp cloth. Have you tried this plant hack before? #plantcaretips #planthelp #birdofparadise
