The AAWT begins!🤩 Day 1 distance hiked: 28.9km / 18mi Total distance hiked: 28.9km / 18mi It’s been just over 2 months since I finished my thru hike of The Pacific Crest Trail and I’ve been missing trail life every single day. The Australian Alps Walking Track will no doubt be a whole different experience but I’m so bloody excited to be out in the wild for an extended period of time again. The AAWT is a 700km / 435mi long thru hiking trail that runs from Canberra to just east of Melbourne in Australia’s south-east. It’s one of the most remote and rugged trails in the country, traversing 3 states and some of our spectacular high country. We expect to be on trail for just under a month. Day 1 began with a big climb up to Mt Tennent. It was a very hot first day but there was plenty of water around so it was manageable. There is nothing better than walking in the Aussie bush and this part of the country is absolutely pristine. We saw kangaroos, wallabies and kookaburras today and there should be plenty more wildlife as we head south. We took a small detour up to Booroomba Rocks which was well worth it with some epic views. And then we finished the day among herds of kangaroo at a beautiful little riverside camp. It was an awesome first day on trail and I can’t wait to share this journey with you all!

Almost there…🇨🇦 It was an arctic morning, very hard to get out of my tent. Temperatures are dropping as summer is in the rear view mirror and it’s supposed to rain during our last few days as well. But regardless we did get moving nice and early and were treated to an incredible sunrise and swirling clouds amongst the mountains we were walking through this morning. We crossed paths with old trail friends today and covered some good miles on mostly lovely trail. Our goal was to reach the iconic Hartz Pass for camp which is the last road access on the PCT. We made it there after over 27 miles walked and settled in for a night of rain. We are 30 miles from Canada, we will get really close tomorrow! Day 137 Distance hiked: 45.4km (28.2mi) Total distance hiked: 4,628.1km (2,875.8mi)

Bye Stehekin… our final ressupply and final town stop of the PCT. We left town on the 8am shuttle back to trail filled with excited and a little nervousness, we only have 4 days of hiking left before we reach Canada. It was a day of climbing as we essentially walked a 20+ mile uphill section. 6,500ft of vertical gain definitely wore out the legs but honestly I feel stronger and fitter than ever before and had no issues. It was a mixture of forest and open views of the surrounding ranges most of the day as we entered our 7th and final US National Park; North Cascades National Park. The rain threatened throughout but mostly held off, although the next few days are forecasted to be pretty wet. Day 136 Distance hiked: 38.8km (24.1mi) Total distance hiked: 4,582.7km (2,847.6mi)

Town, sweet town🏠 Day 8 distance hiked: 6.8km / 4.2mi Total distance hiked: 291.9km / 181.4mi After a huge day on trail yesterday, we were pretty excited to walk into the mountains town of Thredbo this morning. A casual 7km in the pouring rain got us in and we headed straight for food and coffee. Typical town day chores followed; hostel booking, resupply, shower and laundry. This is my first time in Thredbo and it was surprisingly quiet, probably something to do with the torrential rain the battered the town and surrounding mountains all day long. We spent the afternoon eating lots of food and catching up on some editing for these daily vlogs! Back on trail tomorrow morning!

If you are looking to take the iconic photo of Tokyo Tower and the row of lights, the best spot — without causing a disturbance in the middle of Keyakizaka Street — is just past O-Yane Plaza where the Christmas Market is held. The illuminations will run until December 25, from around 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. each night. This bridge is super crowded before 5pm cos everyone wanted to see the lights turn on. Shot on iPhone.
